{"id":430,"date":"2025-05-19T08:25:22","date_gmt":"2025-05-19T08:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/grid-architecture.com\/?p=430"},"modified":"2025-05-30T12:19:15","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T12:19:15","slug":"environment-agency-consults-on-new-simpler-recycling-charge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grid-architecture.com\/index.php\/2025\/05\/19\/environment-agency-consults-on-new-simpler-recycling-charge\/","title":{"rendered":"Environment Agency consults on new Simpler Recycling charge"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-beyondwords-marker=\"85ffc60f-65f1-4366-b5a7-4aebaf93bd4c\" data-beyondwords-player=\"true\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<h4>\u00a0<\/h4>\n<h4><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-499697 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"Simpler Recycling\" width=\"860\" height=\"516\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.circularonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/iStock-899355234-1.jpg?resize=860%2C516&amp;ssl=1\"><\/h4>\n<h4>The Environment Agency is consulting on introducing a \u00a3118 hourly charge for businesses that do not comply with Simpler Recycling legislation.<\/h4>\n<p>The charge will only apply to businesses or occupiers of relevant non-domestic premises who do not comply with the rules of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circularonline.co.uk\/news\/simpler-recycling-comes-into-force\/\">simpler recycling: workplace recycling in England<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Environment Agency says the hourly charge will help to recover the costs of enforcing the legislation from non-compliant businesses and occupiers of relevant non-domestic premises.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.circularonline.co.uk\/briefing-papers\/ciwm-member-information-note-an-overview-of-requirements-for-workplaces-under-the-simpler-recycling-regulations\/\">Simpler Recycling<\/a> requires all workplaces in England, except those classified as micro-businesses with less than 10 full-time employees, to separate dry recyclables (paper and card, plastics, metal), glass, food waste, and residual waste.<\/p>\n<p>The charge will also apply to non-compliant micro-businesses that come into the scope of Simpler Recycling from 31 March 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Kerbside plastic film collections from businesses and relevant non-domestic premises and households will also be introduced by 31 March 2027.<\/p>\n<p>By 31 March 2026, local authorities will be required to collect the core recyclable waste streams: glass, metal, plastic, paper and card, and food waste from all households in England.<\/p>\n<p>This includes introducing weekly food waste collections for most homes unless a transitional arrangement applies.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.circulareconomyfestival.com\/programmes\/?utm_source=partner_site&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_campaign=MayCOFOCEBanner\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-453669 size-full lazyload\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"\" width=\"860\" height=\"106\" data-src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.circularonline.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/CIWM-394-FOCE-25-Leaderboard-728x90px-scaled.jpg?resize=860%2C106&amp;ssl=1\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circularonline.co.uk\/news\/environment-agency-consults-on-new-simpler-recycling-charge\/\">Environment Agency consults on new Simpler Recycling charge<\/a> appeared first on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.circularonline.co.uk\">Circular Online<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 The Environment Agency is consulting on introducing a \u00a3118 hourly charge for businesses that do not comply with Simpler Recycling legislation.
